Many Christians claim the United States Constitution is a biblical and Christian document. From where does their evidence for such a claim come? Not from the Constitution itself, or from the four volumes of notes from the Constitutional Convention, or from the Federalist Papers – all primary source documents. The “proof” that the U.S. Constitution is a Christian document is derived solely from the oft-repeated Christian-sounding quotations (many of which have no primary source documentation) attributed to the framers and from a few Supreme Court declarations made years later.
What the framers, at any given time, said regarding their beliefs is irrelevant. Their legacy – the Constitution – speaks for itself. The claims of judges, historians, and politicians prove nothing. The Constitution must be assessed by the perfect laws of Yahweh (Psalm 19:7). On this standard alone, it stands or falls as a biblical document. The United States Constitution is not only devoid of any biblical references, it even conflicts with Yahweh’s law in numerous areas.
I hope the previous questions and links cause you to reflect and reconsider what is clearly a non-Christian, secular, social contract with the people, which established a government of, by, and for the people, rather than a government of, by, and for God. You will find a much more comprehensive contrast of the U.S. Constitution with Yahweh’s perfect laws in the book Bible Law vs. the U.S. Constitution: The Christian Perspective. We will send you the abbreviated version of this book shortly.
