Comments: Weiland's exposition of the 1st Commandment demonstrates my guilt of idolatry on many different levels. His articles on each of the Ten Commandments can be found at the Mission to Israel website under the tab titled Online Books.
It is safe to say, in my opinion, that anyone, if honest with themselves can see clearly how easy it is to sink into idolatry once it is explained to them in such a clear manner. We must guard our hearts and be quick to repent of what we find that is inconsistent with Biblical standards. The God of the Bible is a Holy and a jealous God and He is not one with whom we should trifle. I fear God. Given the magnitude of the departures from scriptural standards that America puts on display daily, I think we have great reason to be afraid collectively. The fiscal cliff pales in comparison to what is coming without repentance and a return to living by Biblical standards. I pray it is not too late.

Comments: Most countries in the world, including Fiji look to America, with justified envy, as the champion of democracy. But as we, other nations, are learning and observing, the USA's reputation as a democracy is also subject to questions.
I hope and pray that we, developing countries like Fiji can learn and should learn quickly, how democracy, whilst probably the 'lesser of other evils' in forms of government; it should be equally subjected to open and ongoing scrutiny, for the sake of our people. The very people that democracy claims to safeguard and promote their rights and interests.

Comments: It is strange indeed that a legal instrument like the Constitution which does not mention the “Lord Jesus Christ” or the “Holy Scriptures” or embody the “Ten Commandments” in any way could be called an “inspired,” “Christian” document. If the Founding Fathers intended the Constitution to be a Christian instrument, they would have appealed to the “Grace of God” and embedded Biblical truth into it. But, they did not. Rather, they employed a secular instrument and committed idolatry by calling it the “supreme law of the land.” Any instrument that places the source of law in “We the People” instead of in “the LORD God” recklessly violates the First Commandment. If the First Commandment means anything, it instructs Christian men that they are to have no other sources of law before the Law of the LORD God. It is time to heed the Scriptural admonition, “Hear the Word of the Lord.”
